South Africa says it is concerned about reports that the United States of America (USA) will begin taking in White South Africans, who claim they are being racially discriminated against at home. South Africa says the claims are unfounded. The foreign ministry said, “It is most regrettable that it appears that the resettlement of South Africans to the United States under the guise of being ‘refugees’ is entirely politically motivated and designed to question South Africa’s constitutional democracy.” ACMS (Wits University) and University of Oxford’s dual-appointed Professor Loren Landau of Migration and Development, tells Deutsche Welle television news why he thinks White South Africans have no basis to claim asylum in the USA.
