Adeagbo Oluwafemi, has BA Honours in Philosophy from Adekunle Ajasin University and a Diploma in Industrial Relations from the University of Ibadan. He has worked on African Cultural Heritage project, in the quest for social order in Nigeria. Currently he is interested in doing a research about the livelihood of Nigerians in the past, present and future, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Jessica has a degree in Philosophy and International Relations from Tufts University. She has conducted field research on issues related to conflict and transitional justice in Ghana, South Africa, and Northern Uganda. She is the founder of a non-profit organization called Collaborative Transitions in Africa, which supports local transitional justice initiatives in post-conflict communities.
Rosemary's background is in Sociology and Demography. Her area of research is migration and local government. She explores the municipal management of migration in particular local government institutional capacity to manage migration and municipal responses to the dynamics of urban population growth.
Iriann looks at the different forms of cosmopolitanism, in theory and practice, amongst migrant street traders in Johannesburg. She explores the ways migrants engage ‘the local’ and ‘the global’ on a daily basis: How do migrant give meaning to places ‘here’ and ‘elsewhere,’ as well as to notions of movement?
Jaki’s research explores the dynamics involved in transnationality with reference to formal and informal migrant associations and networking in Southern Africa. Forced immigrants live transnational lives when they are forced to live in countries other than their country of origin.

Hilton Johnson has a background in pro-democracy work in Southern Africa, change management and issues relating to Internal displacement and demobilization/re-integration of ex-combatants in Colombia, Latin America specifically. His research will explore the impact and role of civic agency within the ambit of civil society structures in communities of internally displaced people.
Independent migrant children occupy an important but precarious position in cross-border movements in Southern Africa. In response to this situation a number of interventions are being implemented in South Africa aimed at assisting them.
Nema has a BA Honours in Demography Studies from the University of Zambia. She is currently working for Chartis Insurance and manages quality assurance for all the Call Centre partners.
Boipelo has extensive background and passion for community work which culminated in her being awarded the Round Square King Constantine Award for ‘self effacement in the common cause’ (2004). She graduated with a BA degree in International Studies and Communication (double major) from Monash University Malaysia.
The study critically analyses the “Skimpy Justice Provision Inside the Stopgap-Justice-System and the Mobile Government Local Court accessed by Women and Girls in the Rural Settings”: A Case Study of the link between masculinities and the decision-making in the process of handling gender-based violence and other women related issues in Kala Refugee Camp.
Vedaste holds an Hons degree in Public Administration from the Université Nationale du Rwanda and a Master’s degree in Forced Migration Studies from the Wits University. His primary research area is religion and migration with a focus on the role of the church in the integration of migrants.
Elsa has a Bachelor of Science with majors in Psychology, Sociology and Religious Studies. She has an extensive background in the areas of education and social work, specifically focusing on vulnerable populations and equal access to higher education.
Gugulethu holds a BSc Honours in Sociology and an MSc Degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Zimbabwe. He worked for CODESRIA (Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa) on Migration in Africa and Youth Identity in Africa - Multi-National Working Groups.
Becky has a background in history of resettlement with asylum seekers and refugees in the United States of America. She is interested in writing a thesis about the rights of migrants and/or stateless people.
Celestin has an Honours Degree in International Relations from the University of Lubumbashi . His research will focus on a comparative study on "professional Experiences of Congolese and Zimbabwean Migrant Workers in the private sector in Johannesburg, the case study of Shoprite Centurion Distribution Centre.
Brittany Wheeler has a background in literature, education and museum work. She has an MA in International Museum Studies from Göteborgs Universitet (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). Her present research interests are concentrated around the exploration of the museum as a space in which to expound upon social justice issues.
